IES Santa Bárbara, one of Málaga’s most prestigious vocational training centers in healthcare, has taken a bold step into the future with the creation of an Applied Technology Classroom (ATECA).
This space turns traditional teaching into a dynamic, collaborative, and technology-driven environment, where students learn through VR simulators, digital tools, and active methodologies that bridge the gap between theory and real-world practice.
Institutions and training centers that collaborate in practical and safe learning.
The school faced a double challenge: adapting to a labor market that is increasingly digital and demanding, while also providing realistic practice opportunities for a growing number of students in programs such as Nursing Assistants, Laboratory, and Dental Prosthetics.
The key question: how to deliver safe, authentic, and effective training without relying solely on clinical access?
MetaMedicsVR designed and implemented tailored digital resources for the ATECA Classroom at IES Santa Bárbara. These included a complete VR simulator for CPR, an interactive anatomy software co-designed with the school’s faculty, and clinical cases adapted to the needs of healthcare assistant training.
But the project didn’t stop at technology. Teachers also received specialized training to ensure they felt confident integrating these tools into their lessons. The classroom itself was equipped with 3D printers, scanners, VR headsets, and advanced sound and visualization systems, all organized into functional zones to foster creativity and flexibility.
“The ATECA Classroom is the engine of the new vocational training. With simulators like those from MetaMedicsVR, we achieve learning that is more real, more active, and better connected to the professional world.”
